Resilient Livelihoods & Climate Adaptation

ALDO organized a focus group discussion addressing gender-based violence (GBV), adolescent pregnancy, child and early forced marriage, and the promotion of equality and justice for all. The advocacy and awareness event, conducted at the Kajiado County Police Headquarters and the opinion community leaders, received strong participation from police officers and the local elders, reflecting institutional commitment and solidarity with the program’s objectives.

Environmental Conservation & Biodiversity

In 2015, ALDO’s outreach team engaged medical personnel at Kajiado County Referral Hospital in a focus group discussion on HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis (TB), gender-based violence (GBV), and emergency and disaster response. The session aimed to strengthen coordination between health professionals and community actors, enhance awareness on prevention and response mechanisms, and promote integrated approaches to public health and community resilience

Health, Nutrition & Wellbeing

ALDO Org. team led by executive director visited IDPs in Garissa county as outreach and need assessment survey during flooding season 2024, that left over 1000 households homeless, destruction of properties, even human being and livestock, climate change mitigation and adaptation measures sourced later from well wishers and donors like KRCS and County Government of Garissa.

Socioeconomic Empowerment & Equity

Following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ALDO and the Biafra Muslim Community, members of ALDO’s Board of Directors joined community leaders for a commemorative photo in front of the ALDO Head Office. The partnership marked the start of a collaborative initiative aimed at implementing community development projects, with a key focus on the establishment and growth of the Biafra Islamic Centre as a hub for education, social cohesion, and community empowerment.

 

Peace, Democracy & Human Rights

ALDO’s outreach and sensitization exercises involving women and children, conducted during a field baseline survey, revealed alarmingly high levels of child exploitation, child labor, early and forced marriages, female genital mutilation (FGM), and commercial sexual exploitation of girls across pastoralist communities in Turkana, Samburu, Tana River, and the North Eastern counties, as well as in urban informal settlements

Partnerships & Institutional Strengthening

ALDO organized a comprehensive training workshop in Kajiado County, Kenya, aimed at strengthening gender equality and enhancing the empowerment of women and youth. The workshop focused on promoting leadership, participation, and collective community action to reclaim rights and ensure equitable representation in decision-making processes at all levels of governance. Through participatory learning and dialogue, the initiative helped equip participants with the knowledge, confidence, and advocacy skills needed to advance social justice and inclusive governance.
