ALDO believes in addressing the multifaceted needs of rural communities in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands. Its approach revolves around empowering vulnerable individuals and communities through comprehensive initiatives/interventions that cover peace building, education, health, water, infrastructure, democracy, good governance, human rights, climate change, biodiversity, conservancy and environmental conservation.
ALDO aims bridging Gaps and flatten Development Barriers within the region by strengthening ASALs Rural Communities integrated/diversified capacities and transformative resilience through quality education, quality health care services, enhanced infrastructure, open democracy and human rights, well managed localized natural resources, climate change impact mitigation and adoption, environment/wildlife/Biodiversity conservation, protection and promotion, multi-stakeholders inclusive engagement, partnership and collaboration for sustainable development.

In 2014, Biafra-Nairobi became a beacon of transformation as women from diverse backgrounds came together
for a groundbreaking empowerment training focused on entrepreneurship and financial management. This
initiative was more than a workshop—it was a catalyst for change.
Following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ALDO and the Biafra Muslim Community, members of ALDO’s Board of Directors joined community leaders for a commemorative photo in front of the ALDO Head Office. The partnership marked the start of a collaborative initiative aimed at implementing community development projects, with a key focus on the establishment and growth of the Biafra Islamic Centre as a hub for education, social cohesion, and community empowerment
In January 2013, the ALDO Organization convened its inaugural general meeting—a landmark gathering that marked the beginning of its formal institutional journey. During this pivotal assembly, founding members and stakeholders came together to deliberate on the organization's vision, governance structure, and strategic direction.

Enhancing economic opportunities and social inclusion for women, youth, and vulnerable groups through skills
development, enterprise support, and equitable access to resources and services.
